Game Of Thrones has spawned vicious debate over the quality of its final season, but this sequence of events appears to have been predicted by Parks And Recreation years ago.
After the latest episode of season eight proved another divisive entry, some fans began tweeting a clip from the comedy series which aired back in 2015.
In season seven, episode four of Parks And Rec, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) is locked in the office overnight with Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) by their friends, in an attempt to mend their friendship.
As they beg for their release through the glass doors, Leslie attempts to convince her husband to set her free by reminding him the Game Of Thrones finale is airing later that night.
While they wrong about when the Game Of Thrones finale would air by two years (the episode is set in 2017), Leslie’s following comments may ring true for many.
Pleading to her husband, Leslie says: ‘Oh my God babe. Game Of Thrones is on tonight.
‘Khaleesi is marrying Jack Sparrow. Oh, God, that show has really gone off the rails.’
Alright, Game Of Thrones didn’t exactly stage a crossover with Pirates Of The Caribbean. But heck, it might have been better than an Ed Sheeran cameo.
It isn’t the only prediction fans have touted recently, with The Simpsons, once again, proving its prowess in foresight.
If you need more convincing on Parks And Rec’s claim to the prediction throne, let the viewers wash over you.
Game Of Thrones season eight concludes Sunday on HBO and Sky Atlantic. You can catch-up on episodes on NOW TV.
