If you wondered why this show was snubbed by one of the most prestigious TV awards, there’s a good reason.

And it all comes down to the fact the start date was pushed back.
In the past, the show has received scores of nominations and awards from the Emmys, but this year will be very different, simply because the show aired later than usual.
In order to be counted for consideration for 2017, a show must premiere between June 1 2016 and May 31 2017. As season six premiered April 26 2016 it was therefore ineligible. Although the show was on air within the deadline, as the crucial first episode missed it the show could not be counted.
But, hoorah, season seven qualifies!
Production kicked off much later this time around as season seven called for more snow and less daylight with Westeros being in the midst of the harsh winter, and Jon Snow and co went beyond the wall meaning they required much more wintry landscapes, meaning producers had to wait for a more suitable time of year to film – and thus it’s now eligible for the 2018 awards. The season premiered on July 16.
Game Of Thrones season eight may well work in the same way, although we’ll have to wait until 2019 to actually find out when it airs with just six episodes.
The Emmy Awards take place on Sunday 17.
Meanwhile, since the season ended, numerous theories have surfaced regarding the characters of Westeros.
For instance, eagle-eyed fans think they might have found out the true identity of the Night King – Bran Stark.
In the finale titled The Dragon And The Wolf, the White Walkers and a dragon-riding Night King brought down The Wall under a blanket of blue fire, leaving the series on a cliffhanger as the undead forces marched into Westeros.
During their march however, some fans have noticed their particularly specific formation seems to resemble a certain House emblem.
Don’t know what you’re looking at? Well, the towering shot seems to show the White Walkers in a formation which looks like the Stark’s sigil flip-reversed.
