The next book in the series, called The Winds of Winter, is yet to be published but fans have seen hints it could be released this year.
A Song of Ice and Fire expert BryndenBFish said he was confident The Winds of Winter will be published in 2020 after all, thanks to his sources.
He tweeted: “All teasing aside, I think 2020 will be the year TWOW gets published.”
The author has always said since missing the last deadline he would not share another one with fans as he wanted to avoid disappointment.
For those who have read the previous books they will have to wait and see whether the next one is published before the end of the year.
