Game Of Thrones will live on for one more week as it’s been revealed the show will air a two-hour documentary taking fans behind-the-scenes of its eighth season.

It’s not long now until we’re reunited with our favourite Iron Throne contenders and while on one hand we’re excited to immerse ourselves back into the world of Westeros, our hearts are breaking at the thought of it all coming to an end.

But, HBO has assured fans that they’ll get one more hit from the show in the form of documentary Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch.

A statement released by the network revealed: ‘Made with unprecedented access, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers.

‘Much more than a “making of” documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.’

OK fine, we’re already crying.

Game Of Thrones’ eighth season kicks off in April and ahead of its return author George R.R. Martin has said that its ending will be different to how things play out in the books.

The HBO show is going to overtake the books, as Martin still hasn’t finished them. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said: ‘I’ve been so slow with these books.

‘The major points of the ending will be things I told them five or six years ago. But there may also be changes, and there’ll be a lot added.’

He admits that he ‘never anticipated’ he’d be playing catch up with the TV show and wishes he’d nailed the books down sooner.

Fans, meanwhile, has been waiting on tenterhooks for Game Of Thrones’ final season – so much so, that they were actually left furious when episode one of season eight seemed to leak online.

Luckily, the release of a trailer for season eight was enough for fans hold back from caving in early, with one commenting on Twitter: ‘I have not waited almost two years for season 8 of game of thrones to have it spoiled 3 weeks before it airs.

‘So I swear if I see any leaks imma throw a fit.’

A-men to that.
