  1. Great video!
You can really tell the amount of effort you guys put into these videos.

    There are some weak points in the theory;
like the negotiation between Ned, Jon Arryn and Hoster Tully, they are about to go to war, open rebellion and the Westerlands are still undecided. For Hoster Tully to side with the rebels is a HUGE risk. He would be an idiot not to try and strong arm Jon and Ned into the best possible terms. But i totally agree that Ned told him about the marriage, if it ever happened.

But that leads to another problem, if Hoster knew Ned was married there is no way he would agree to marry Cat to him. Remember how Walder Frey reacted?
If Hoster knew his grandchildren might not inherit Winterfell anyway, then what was the point?
Maybe he dind't consider Ned's marriage to Ashara to be valid, but if that was the case i don't tink Jon can be considered legitimate, because that would likely mean that most other lords would arrive at the same conclusion. Maybe MAYBE Hoster Tully consulted the Maester about this and he (likely Luwin) convinced Hoster that N+A= bastards. That could work except, Luwin doens't seem to have Jon's best interest at heart at all.

The whole point about a marriage is to announce the union to the world. While a secret marriage is fun to play with in your mind, it makes little sense for Ned. If he married Ashara without telling people, then what was the point?
Maybe Howland Reed knows, but if only a handfull of people knows then they can't prove it can they?

Blackfish and Hoster might have stopped arguing once in a while, but Blackfish never married, so Hoster always had a reason to resume the argument, Walder Frey was always a troublesome lord, giving him Blackfish would likely have made Hoster Tully's job a lot easier or maybe he wanted him to marry Genna Lannister(not sure when she married though) or Tyrell.
Marrying someone in a feudal systemt isn't just something you would like people to do, it's the way the family survives!
Hoster had two daughters and a young son, if Edmure died(children die all the time when you don't have antibiotics), and his daugthers are married off into other families, the Tully family is in a very bad position going forward, so for Hoster to be mad about Brynden not marrying is very understandable and quite frankly to hold to that position when your family words are Family, Duty, Honor is very suspicious. I do think however that Blackfish is a targaryan supporter and that might be another reason.

But i have the nitpickers advantage here, it's a very good video and gave me something to think about!

  2. I'm not sure if you've mentioned this in a video or if anyone else has commented it, but there is a great quote by Stannis in Jon IV of ADWD.
Stannis rubbed the back of his neck. “You haggle like a crone with a codfish, Lord Snow. Did Ned Stark father you on some fishwife?"

Jon again reflects to himself on this quote again when talking with Tycho Nestoris later in the book during the Jon IX chapter.
'What was it Stannis had said to him? You haggle like a crone with a codfish, Lord Snow. Did Lord Eddard father you on a fishwife? Perhaps he had at that.'

I don't think this is implying that Stannis knows about Jon's mother, but is simply a way for GRRM to sneak in another subtle reference to N+A=J.

  3. Omg this is brilliant! I've been looking for a channel like this, focused on the books not the tv show, for so long. I'm gonna race to watch every video you've made as fast as possible. Is there a way to contact you privately? I have a few theories that don't appear anywhere else that I'd love to share with you. I don't have the forum to share them publicly the way I'd like and if you judge them to be true then you could do with them as you wish. The biggest two are I know and can prove who sent the Assassin to kill Bran, and I know who Marwyn really is. If they're a way to reach you please contact me at bryantaylor9874@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Excellent work btw! So happy to have discovered your channel. God bless him, but Preston has been getting further from the brilliance he initially showed. The show has clouded every decent theorist out there to the point I'd given up looking.

  4. I love your videos!!!! I was wondering if u had the same theory, Ned isn't dead. Why was Jaqen H'ghar a faceless man in jail? How did he get caught? I think he helped Ned escape. I can go more into detail of what might of happened if your want.

  5. Catelyn is pretty bad. But worse than Cersei…Hmmm, Toss a coin THANKS SO MUCH Y'ALL if I knew how to like I would(thumbs up–>???)LOL Perhaps HBO has colored Caztelyn as a tad better. NOT MUCH THO~! 😉

  6. The fact you guys came up with this theory is awesome I wish my brain worked like that! lol I'm not sure if you're right but its amazing you guys came up this theory and even trying to prove it in text You guys are smart as hell

  7. I'd argue that, if you're right, Ned marries Catelyn out of love of all those who would be killed if the Tullys didn't partner with the rebels. What would've been right would be honoring his previous marriage to Ashara. Instead, he goes with through with the second marriage. And there's proof he's weak when it comes to love, as he agrees to dishonor himself to save his girls from Cersei and the threats in King's Landing.

  8. What I have always found weird is how Ned always seems to be so hard on himself all the time due to him "cheating" on Cat and having a bastard, but if Jon is not Ned's son, why does ned seem to ALWAYS be so remorseful about this subject?

Because he really does have a child with Ashara Dayne.

  9. I like your theories and how you present them… I need more evidence though such as if Ned and Ashara had married in a Sept as you suggested there would be certificates and word that they had married, especially considering word spreads fast. Would Hoster Tully really marry his daughter to someone who already is? I don't think house Dayne will take it to well either their daughter has been dishonored and cast aside for someone of lower status and also winterfell, I don't think Ned or Hoster would risk another enemy for that.

  10. It could have been plausible if i had not seen season 7 because this myth has been disproved because at the end of season 7 they confirmed that Jon is a targaryen the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark and Jon's real name is Aegon Targaryen i mean Jon isn't even a bastard he is the rightful air to the throne and he has even more claim to it then Daenerys does but weather or not he wants the throne is another story though.

  11. it certainly is plausible that Jon is the son of Ned and Ashara.  It also explains why Ashara leaped to her death when Ned married Catelyn.

One big hiccup is; Jon was able to approach Drogon, and even touched him.  I would't think any commoner would be able to get near the dragon unless it had  dragon's blood.  Of course there may be a psychic link between rider (Daenerys) and dragon which prevented Drogon from eating Jon.  As the story goes the Targaeryens are the only ones with dragon blood.

  12. The whole reason Martin said yes to dan and Dave is because when they met with him they had the correct answer to Jon snows parentage…I guess they could have changed it from what he was planning for the books, but considering that it seems unlikely. I appreciate the time and effort these guys put in to all their videos, but most of them I think are really reaching, and really on misinterpreting or at least playing some semantics games with offhand comments made by characters.

  13. But if Ned did actually marry in a septon, it would kind of be a big deal unless the got a high septon to annul. How could they do that on the low? How could Holster agree to it when all of Cat's kids could be seen as bastards by certain people? That seems like social suicide for his family mostly. What if Ned actually lied and said it was in front of a weir wood but it wasn't?
