I absolutely love all of your videos!
Just a thought about the doors of the house and black and white… I think it's likely that you only need to say 'valar morghulis' to get in and not also show the coin to it. Otherwise how would the common folk who go there to die get in there? All the Bravvosi know the 'valar morghulis' but obviously the coin it supposed to be rare and something only a faceless man would have.
So bankers are instruments of death, darkness and evil? What a surprise.
The weirwoods paste changing to a more pleasing taste the more you eat it is exactly like the shade of the evening. When Dany first drinks the shade of the evening it tastes like spoiled meat at first but started to taste better the more she drank it. I don't know what to make of that but its interesting since Dany experiences the magic of the undying right after and Bran experiences the magic of the weirwood right after.
So many parallels but the one that get me is the sound of running water under the house of the undying and BR's cave. Could the ww trees be connected by streams of blood and what purpose would they serve to the children?
hi guys, been listening to your stuff for a while now, and im amazed.
so can i just clarify, u are saying that in the end, its really the children of the forest and the wierwood that are behind the face less men, as u say because that s where the faceless men draw their ability to LITERALLY become the faces they wear, and where do they get the power from? wier wood, that draws on the memories of those past dead,
so in a way arya and bran are really students recruited to serve the old gods, unbeknownst to them, thanks to the inter twining histories upon histories of the secret orders?
Weirwoods migth be in the Ifequevron Forest, according to Corlys Velaryon's reports there are carved trees in the Land of the Woods Walkers. Great stuff, as I've said elsewhere, could chat with your guys over gallons of coffee for hours. This has kept me company on some commutes, thank you.
I don't think there are any weirwoods in Essos period. There is a sacred grove in Bravos. West of the city their are large stands of trees and they help protect the port from the elements. Its forbidden to cut these trees down. If there is a weirwood in Bravos, it would be there.
I haven't seen all of your videos, so maybe you already came up with it, but have you ever thought about that all weirwood trees could be one giant organism, their roots being a worldwide net, like funguses mycelum, the visible trees just like mushrooms, whilst the greatest part grows deep under the surface? This could be the reason why they can't be killed, why they are all connected, because they are in fact ONE.
intro music is way too loud
if I see another advertisement for Arby's pizza sliders, I'm going to flip out.
so far my favorite theory.
you just blew my mind this makes alot of sense. we are so used to looking at the world in this binary order of things
Do Weirwoods grow in Dorne at all?
Have you thought about the vows of the Kingsguard and the Night's Watch? "Father no children" can mean don't breed with the Children of the Forest or to not show mercy to them.
Looks like a tree, has properties of a tree but weirwoods ain't no tree. I still think they are extensions of the Great Other. The weirwoods aren't individual trees, but are all connected by their roots to some monstrous thing deep within the earth like its hair.
You guys are awesome, big fan
The house of black and white sounds like the house of the undying
I always come back and watch your videos, over and over again. I really hope you get towards talking about the Iron Born at some point in the future… or Patchface… or some of the other mythical groups, including the 'mermaids', giants, and the Others. Love your Videos.
You guys have that old school Discovery Channel special vibe going on, you just need a few bad actors to reconstruct some scenes you're describing 😛
Holy shit, do you think they got Bran and Arya to these precise positions because they need their Stark blood to begin the Long Night? That'd be fucking insane.
your words about the drinks Arya and bran take, that is disgusting at first, then lovely, reminds me of Dany drinking shade of the evening, and when euron forces Aeron to drink shade of the evening. seems the same experience, and I'm sure you've already observed this. do you see it tying in with the magics Arya and bran are experiencing?
How good does the faceless man training make you with weapons? Is Arya just sneakier now or could she best Daario, or Robert Strong, or Brieanne in a fight?
I'm blown away by the amount of thought and presentation that you guys have put in to all this. I've been watching stuff like this for years but. none have made their cases even half as well as you. I'm converted.
When Dany and Aeron(sample Chapter) drank Shade of the evening they had the same experience as Bran and Arya. It also awakened abilities. How does that fit do you think?
I thought when Thistle looked up and saw Varymyr he had already landed in his wolf one-eye and came over the ledge to look at the town.
Good theory, but it is established in cannon that Bravos did trade with others, just in the foreign ports. They had false maps that led people in the opposite direction in case they were captured.
Wow, I didn't notice the parallels, when I read the books. Still, there's one thing I don't get: why the Hell, did they choose Arya? She's about the worst disciple of the many faced god they could have chosen, yet it might well be, that they had their eyes on her ever since she met her Bravosi dancing master… She has no intention of becoming no-one, nor blindly obey orders. She only wants to learn to become an assassin to exact revenge. They surely know, that she would want to run off, as soon as she's ready, to work on her list. She ignored orders, murdered people she wasn't supposed to kill, ran off and killed a member and what does Jaquen do? He smiles at her and pretty much welcomes her back!
so does this mean bran didn't eat jojen in that cave then? cause that'd be fantastic
I'm watching through the "recommended order" playlist for the first time and I absolutely love your videos!
I don't know if you've already made these connections in a later video but I notice several of the connections you make between Bran and Arya's narratives also apply to Danaerys and her story. Bran tasting the weirwood paste and Arya smelling the House of Black and White both very closely mirror the experience of Danaerys drinking shade of the evening. I'm also reminded of the "inverse weirwoods" with blue leaves and black bark that surround the House of the Undying. Do you think there's a connection between The Undying Ones and the children of the forest? Maybe they're another 'species' of Children local to Qarth?
This Faceless Men series is my favorite of yalls so far. So many parallels and nuggets I hadn't thought of and it's cool when little things I have noticed or wondered about during my own reads get brought up and fleshed out even more in your videos.
Anyhoo, can't wait for the next installment and to hear what you guys think about other characters and mysteries, cause even though I disagree with some of yall theories they still make me think and rethink a lot about the story and the way you present your thoughts and findings make me appreciate GRRM so much more than I thought was possible. Are you guys allowed to give high fives with those green hands of yours?
"She sees me" quote. Wasn't he already a wolf at that point?
The other similarity is the worm (that Arya tried to eat) in eye socket of the hooded guy in the House of Black and White and the worm that Bran describes in Blood Raven's eye socket.
if the Many-Faced God or his servants want to keep Arya and Bran out of the way, wouldn't it just be easier to kill them ? Why all the subterfuge ?
Wait….I'm not sure they can use the memories of the faces they steal. When Jaqen is Pate and meets Sam, he says "Like Pate the pig boy". The real Pate HATED that story and would have never brought it up. Also when Arya gives her first gift she has to follow the guy around for days and learn everything she can about him. Totally agreed with everything else though! Great video!
Great video, really thought many of your ideas have merit!
However, I think your arguments for thinking there is a weirwood under the house of black and white (hobaw) are somewhat lacking.
As far as I know it is not mentioned anywhere, that the hobaw had those doors prior to trading with the outside world. Could the doors not have been imported after that, or simply via a smuggler?
I am not saying you are incorrect, but these are not unlikely alternatives 🙂
Hey guys. GREAT videos, as always. lady Greenland, i finally found out how you ca. be the amazon Affiliate. there are instructions and its really easy!! then you get a small kickback from Amazon for anyone that buys the books but it costs the purchaser the same price as it would on Amazon.
I love you guys . . . such dedication . . . such great theories . . . keeping it alive until July . . . Who does the music you use in your intro . . . it's great? Many thanks.
Well thought and well edited videos. Original theories with good explanations and data from the books. Still you have less than 10k subs. I hate internet right now. If you dont have +100k subs in a year i´ll start boikoting the crappy channels with bad pussy jokes and dick pictures.Show only watchers are really like ants eating poisoned honey and coming for more. The harpy and the awesome are more retarded and clicbait everyday and they have +100k subs. What the f+ck internet?
Please keep this great work going, one day you will have what you deserve. Your 7500 subs are true fans. For most of us your videos are the best upload of the week in all the asoiaf community. <3
Love your videos. I know you two have your views and in some cases pulled me in but how do you feel about N+A=D? there are some strong evidence in the books for this theory. I would love to see your take on it even though I know you believe it =J. I am still split between these to theories.
What do you think of the title A Song of Ice and Fire? Most people just think about ice and fire, but what about the word song? Your videos make me think the song part is a reference to the children and another cryptic clue from GRRM. That its Song (those who sing the song of earth) ice and fire we're working with. maybe even song vs ice and fire? am I crazy?
