I love this movie. It’s not another American hero war movie that focuses on the handsome war hero, but rather focuses on the Germans, showing that they too were humans that had emotions and struggles just like everybody else, and showed their side of the war.

You forget the Germans were people too…with hopes and dreams and fears but hey it's war I guess

I really liked how this series really gave you a sense of just how mentally destructive the eastern front must have been. I remember there's a scene where he's the one pulling the rope to hang civilians.. normally people would think 'how could an average sensible soldier do something so terrible?' But then you see the look on his face of just complete numbness to so much death. It's not that he's a bad person, it's just that going through combat like this day after day for months and months just makes a guy honestly not give a shit.
