What you see is gonna be very similar to what I wrote.”

Why ‘The Hedge Knight’ Still Matters
Martin’s affection for The Hedge Knight runs deep. “Sometimes writing is a struggle… but it came to me very quickly, and I loved it,” he said at NYCC. The story’s simplicity—centered on Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg—offers a refreshing contrast to the sprawling epics fans are used to. With Martin’s seal of approval, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms may finally restore trust in the franchise’s storytelling roots.
For fans burned by past missteps, this series might just be the redemption arc Westeros needed.
