Finally George R. R. Martin’s much-hyped book ‘Fire and Blood’ is out in the market and is available in the bookstores near you. Maybe, Winds of Winter is something that the fans look forward to more, yet hopes are high for Fire and Blood too as the book is said to feature some of the unknown facts of Targaryen history. Well, at least the author himself promises this!
Martin clearly states that it’s not a traditional novella but an account of House Targaryen beginning with Aegon Targaryen’s conquest and lasting for around 150 years. Written from the point of view of Archmaester Gyldayn, the account will also focus on the elements from the main book series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. Here’s the author himself describing what his new book is all about:
And in a new clip featured on Esquire.com, George says that Daenerys Targaryen herself could benefit by reading this book. He says,
“This is a book that Daenerys might actually benefit from reading, but she has no access to Archmaester Gyldayn’s crumbling manuscripts. So she’s operating on her own there. Maybe if she understood a few things more about dragons and her own history in Essos, things would have gone a little differently.”
What valuable information for Daenerys does this book contain? Only the binge-readers would know it! Moreover, George had even teased an exciting parallel between Aegon the Conquerer and the current Aegon – Jon Snow in a clip released by Random House. Watch it here:
Transcribing what George said here:
“There is a lot of speculation that in some sense he saw what was coming 300 years later, and wanted to unify the Seven Kingdoms to be better prepared for the threat that he eventually saw coming from the north—the threat that we are dealing with in A Song of Ice and Fire.”
If this new reveal from George is to be believed, this changes the true motive behind Aegon’s Conquest completely with it being uniting the seven kingdoms against the common threat of what lies beyond the Wall. This exactly parallels with Jon’s current purpose of trying to band the entire Westeros together to face the common enemy.
This reveal by George pushes the book fans to binge-read this book and boosts the craving for Season 8 coming out in April 2019 even further. What was your reaction to George’s sneak peek for his new book? Talk to us in the comments.
