Tis the age of spinoffs! With every other show getting a spinoff of its own, how can Game of Thrones lag behind? Once hailed as the greatest TV show of the 21st centuryGeorge R. R. Martin’s fantasy series was the cash cow for HBO for nearly a decade, but they don’t want that story to be over just yet. House of The Dragon was the first of many spinoffs currently in development at HBO, and the prequel teased the arrival of another series that might be on our TV screens in near future. Kit Harington is also working on his Game of Thrones sequel Jon Snow. But these developments are not taking place without HBO’s intervention.

George R. R. Martin’s recent blog post, Not A Blog, gave us a hint as to how much the spinoffs have been impacted due to HBO Max’s cuts and additions:

“Some of those are moving faster than others, as is always the case with development. None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping… maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf as easily as you can put it on the shelf. All the changes at HBO Max have impacted us, certainly.”
