Not long ago, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin was in New York City, signing copies of his new book Fire & Blood and giving a talk near his old stomping grounds in New Jersey.

While he was visiting his publisher, Penguin Random House sat him down for a different kind of talk. Ladies and gentlemen, here is fantasy author and Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin counseling you on where to find the world’s best pizza:

Martin is very big on incredibly thin, New York-style pizza. “You can walk into any place in New York … and get a slice, it’s better than what you’ll get in 97 percent of America,” he said. I like thin pizza well enough, although as a Chicagoan I’ve enjoyed my share of thicker stuff. Still, to each their own.

Martin also isn’t a fan of putting any “weird stuff” on pizza. “None of this sprouts or pineapple or anything like that.” At this point I’m starting to feel personally attacked; pipeapple pizza forever.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this incredibly important dispatch from the man behind the most popular fantasy saga of our time. Now that Martin has concluded his Fire & Blood press tour, he’s hopefully back in his mountain hideaway plugging away at The Winds of Winter.
