Martin has another drama coming to the small screen. Syfy is near a deal to pick up the Game of Thrones creator’s Nightflyers to series. Representatives from the NBCUniversal-owned cable network and producers Universal Cable Productions declined comment as multiple deals are still in the works. Nightflyers, picked up to pilot in June after being put in development in May, is based on Martin’s 1980 novella and the 1987 film of the same name. The Nightflyers series pickup comes as Syfy is fresh off rebranding its on-air look as part of a greater push to focus on science fiction.
