George RR Martin is clearly as unhappy as the rest of us about Game Of Thrones ending – so he’s busy coming up with ideas to stop it happening.
Keep ’em coming George.
The 70-year-old author has reportedly pitched a series to HBO about the peripheral characters in the franchise.
‘I wanted to do a show called Spear Carriers, which would actually be set during the events of Game of Thrones, but it wouldn’t be following Dany, Tyrion and Jaime,’ George explained to the New York Times.
‘They would all be there in the background like Hamlet, and it would be more like, “Here’s a story about a guy in the City Watch; here’s a story about a prostitute at one of Littlefinger’s brothels; here’s a story about a mummer who’s in town to do juggling and tricks.”‘
He added: ‘And they all get caught up in the events. I think that kind of show would be a lot of fun to do. Maybe I’ll be able to convince them to do it!’
It comes after the news that the existing Game of Thrones prequel has a working title – The Long Night.
George revealed: ‘I’m not allowed to say too much about them or HBO will pull out all my fingernails, but one of the shows – working title The Long Night – has been greenlit to pilot.
‘Jane Goldman is the showrunner… They’re working on that one right now. I don’t know when they’ll actually start shooting, but that’s going forward. And meanwhile we have four others in various stages of development.’
Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones actors have finished shooting the final series of the fantasy show and appear to be moving on – mostly by switching up their hair.
Maisie Williams said farewell to her character Arya by dying her hair pastel pink, while Emilia Clarke’s switched her Targaryen locks for a pixie cut.
Both are absolutely iconic.
