Game of Thrones author George RR Martin has revealed he is developing some new shows for HBO.

The fantasy author is also currently working on some other Game of Thrones prequels for the broadcaster – while we continue to wait for what feels like an eternity for the new books to finish off the series as well.

The last book from the A Song Of Ice And Fire series, which charts the story the show is based on, A Dance With Dragons, was released in 2011. For some perspective, children have been born and started school in that time.

Speaking to The Guardian, the 70-year-old said that on top of having his hands stuck in five different Game of Thrones prequels he is also developing ‘a couple of other shows for HBO.’

Of course, we all would like to know more but in true GRRM style, the mysterious man added that ‘he can’t talk about them yet.’

This is pretty much what anyone gets when they dig for more information about future Game of Thrones novels as we wait for the HBO adaptation to return to the air in 2019 for its final season.

The Emmy-winner is also an executive producer on Who Fears Death and the superhero series Wild Cards.

‘It’s all fun, but there are days when I feel a little dizzy. It’s a good problem to have,’ he said of his busy schedule.

The creative previously admitted in the same interview that he is feeling the pressure to ‘do something great’ with the final parts of his book series.

He said the success of GoT has made him feel he really has to deliver on The Winds Of Winter and A Dream Of Spring, the next novels in the series, as Game Of Thrones ends next year with the eighth and final season.

‘The show has achieved such popularity around the world, the books have been so popular and so well reviewed, that every time I sit down I’m very conscious I have to do something great, and trying to do something great is a considerable weight to bear,’ he said.

The author has previously blamed the delay on The Winds Of Winter on the plot being too complex.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Emmys 2018, George explained: ‘I’m working on [The Winds of Winter], and I wish I’d been done four years ago, but I’m slow and the book is very complex, although there are a lot of great distractions out there.’

The TV series finished filming its final episodes for season eight earlier this year but George was a notable absence on set – because he’s got a long-awaited book to write, of course.

George admitted: ‘Going to set is a lot of fun but there’s nothing for me to do there, so I thought I better stay home and not go to Croatia; or Spain; or Belfast, [Northern] Ireland. I still have two books to write.’

Yes you do.
