Duh, Duh, Duh, Duh, *snap, snap.* The iconic tune that goes along with The Addams Family, one that we won’t soon forget, and one that lives on forever. And we get to see the story continue in Tim Burton’s upcoming Netflix series Wednesday.
It’s a new re-imagination of the old series that inspired movies, cartoons, and more, but this time it’s following one character: the titular Wednesday, played by Scream 4’s Jenna Ortega. Christina Ricci played this character in the ’90s movies, with her iconic look of tight braids going down each side of her face.
Netflix gave fans the first look at Ortega dressed up in Wednesday’s black attire, and I must say, she looks perfect in the role.
Netflix Wednesday trailer revealed
In the short clip, we get an up-close look at Ortega’s Wednesday as she tightens up her braids, straightens out that color, and then gives the camera the infamous deep stare that we know and love.
I know Ortega is quite young, so she must have done a lot of homework for this role. She’s got it all down perfectly, and it makes me very enthusiastic about the series, which still does not have a premiere date.
Last year, it was announced that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán were going to be playing Morticia and Gomez Addams, Wednesday’s parents. Even Ricci is returning, although her character remains unknown.
Here is the official logline for the series:
The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Oh, this sounds amazing.

Resident Evil full trailer revealed
After that, Netflix will take us to Raccoon City with a liberal adaptation of the Resident Evil video game series. It’s another zombie, but one they’re clearly putting a lot of thought into:
Resident Evil drops on July 14.
Behind the scenes of Netflix’s One Piece remake
Finally, Netflix dropped a preview for its upcoming live-action remake of One Piece, one of the most popular anime and manga series of all time. Will this finally be the anime adaptation that works for the streamer? It’s had a couple of failures now…
Netflix is pouring money into this series, in any case; in the video below, they show off the massive set they’re building for the Baratie, a floating restaurant that’s all of a piece in the pirate-themed world of One Piece. Check it out:
There’s no word on when One Piece is gonna come out. This one will take a while.
