I felt like the three different Ricks in the premiere was annoying too in the same way. There was a lot of anticipation going into the confrontation with Negan, but was interrupted several times by Old Rick, red eyed and lost looking Rick. Sometimes they just try to do too much instead of keeping momentum going.
