Game of Thrones season 7 is over, but HBO is still rolling out new insights through its The Game Revealed series, which takes an in-depth look at the making of each episode, one by one. Unfortunately, the full episodes are only available on HBO Now, the networkâs over-the-top streaming service, but its posting excerpts to YouTube. Check out a couple highlighting âStormborn,â the second episode of the season, below.
First, director Mark Mylod, prosthetics supervisor Barrie Bower and actor Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) go over the intensely disgusting scene where Sam peels the top layer of skin off Jorahâs body in a successful attempt to cure him of greyscale. Unsurprisingly, it was an arduous experience for all involved, and Glen deserves a few gold stars for wearing what had to be a very uncomfortable prosthetic for days on end.
âStand by to rip, please.â Only on this set.
Next, the cast and crew talk about the battle at sea at the end of âStormborn,â starting with a description of making the Silence, which showrunner Dan Weiss describes as âa big fuck-you boat build by a big fuck-you guy.â
Things I learned while watching this: the huge, kraken-shaped gangplank thing Euron uses to board Yaraâs ship is called a âcorvus.â Good to know.
You can watch the full episode of The Game Revealed for âDragonstoneâ here. HBO has also released a clip from the episode on âThe Queenâs Justice.â For the rest, youâll have to go to HBO Now.
