Gone Girl uses classic screenwriting techniques to tell its twisty, modern noir story. This video examines three of the techniques used by screenwriter Gillian Flynn to see how and why they work so well.

Well explained. Thank you!
Do the film "Betty Blue" 1986. It's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.
Gone Girl is two stories merged into one. The first is Gone, and the second is Girl. Gone is a slow revelation of Amy's whereabouts, where the story ends at Amy driving away. Girl is the settling of Amy and her husband into their new, fake live and marriage. Brilliant story telling despite pretty straightforward story.
Its great to know that so much goes into screenplay and story telling and i would like to keep knowing about these stuff. Thank you for your videos Sir. A great learning experience too if i might add. Although i was hoping if you could provide an insight to the story telling of the movie, Road to Perdition (2002).

Straight up, you are probably one of my favorite Youtubers. Thanks man for what you do.
Michael, please do 21 Grams. I’d love to see how you tackle that.
What is the song that plays at 00:50? It's from something and it's driving me insane.
Plus, your work has helped me a lot as English student and I'm always recommend your channel as a goo source of information. Really thanks. Keep going!
Hi Michel. I've been really impressed by your talented skills for producing such a great deal of well-done analysis on screenplays. I'd like to suggest you go over Gone with the wind as a good example of character archetype by analyzing Scarlett. I bet you are a fun of this movie!
Michael Clayton and Shot Caller would be a good one to analyze. Both have the same formula.
Gone Girl was 20 minutes too long . The scene where she drove home ( how far did she drive ? ) and all bloodied was logic-free.
If possible, please do on Predestination, Interstellar, Inception, Shutter Island
Fun. Thank you. Definitely subscribing.
damn….
The hateful eight bro
Hi, I got really curious about the Snowman (Jo Nesbø's book adaptation) because to me, it was a complete mess so I would love to see your opinion of it, like you did here with Gone Girl. Thank you for making such great video's by the way.
Could you please do Closer?
Great Video! Could you do Hurt Locker please? Thanks!
Great video. I love these breakdowns!! I would be interested in seeing insight on more mediocre films such as Beastmaster or My Bodyguard. Films I love, but know they are not masterpieces
He said “Inartaining” lmaooo
Clockwork Orange plz
Gillian Flynn totally cut the drunk-and-got-interviewed part off…
Hey broo, it was great to quote and to recommend John Truby’s book! Have you seen Bicycle Thieves from Italian Neorealism era? I’m trying to analyze the characters of that movie using Truby’s chapter on characters. Would you mind to check it out so we could compare our analysis. Thank you!
The million dollar baby!!!!
