Her on-screen character is famed for having a steely streak as well as a caring one – being a mother to her people as well as her dragons.

And in a move that is befitting of any royal in any realm – be it real or fantasy – Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has reportedly used £30,000 of her own money to set up a charity to help with specialist brain injuries.

The 31-year-old British star will have ploughed nearly £30,000 of her own money into The Anima Foundation by the end of the year, according to the Mail On Sunday.

According to records kept by Companies House, the charity was first set up in 2016, and it lists both Emilia and her mother, Jennifer, as directors. The acclaimed neurosurgeon Henry Marsh is also listed as a director.

The foundation’s website spells out its mission statement on its website: ‘Our ambition is to increase the number of specialist nurses available to care for people and their families as they leave hospital to go back home.’

The charity will launch later on this year in the UK and a US branch is also planned.

In 2013 there were reports that Emilia had suffered an aneurysm whilst she was living in New York and playing Holly Golightly in the play Breakfast At Tiffany’s on Broadway.

The GOT’s star has never publicly confirmed the reports.

The star revealed yesterday that she has been given the role of Ambassador of the Royal College of Nursing.

Posting a video to her Instragram account, Emilia shared the news with her 16.7 million followers, writing: ‘Silly boomerang for a very serious honour. I have been given the role of Ambassador of the Royal College of Nursing and I honestly couldn’t be happier, prouder or more in awe of the incredible work @thercn does and the masterful work of Nurses the world over.

‘We’ve all had experience dealing with sickness of ourselves or loved ones and the nurses that care for us need our care now, they too often fall victim to outdated ideas that leave fantastic nurses overlooked, under-appreciated and underpaid.

‘I am fiercely proud of my new role as ambassador and vow to use it to champion nurses and their work. Together, we must support the next generation to innovate and become the powerful nurses of tomorrow.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to representatives of Emilia for comment.
