Game of Thrones’ Nathalie Emmanuel has landed the leading role in Mindy Kaling’s upcoming reboot of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
The actress, who plays Missandei in the long-running epic, will be trading in her robes as the Daenerys’ right hand lady to become Maya, an unlucky in love twenty something in the recreation of the 90s classic.
Four Weddings and a Funeral: The Series, will pick up with the American heading to London, England to reunite with old pals for a wedding.
However, things so go wrong for the group when something is revealed in the middle of the ceremony, and the gang have to scramble to get their lives back in order.
The official description warns that ‘relationships are forged and broken’ as they navigate the London social scene, and of course, dropping in on major life events like a few weddings and a funeral.
Mindy Kaling is writing the recreation of the 1994 film classic, which originally starred Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell.
Andie has also been confirmed to make a drop-in appearance as the mother to one of Maya’s pals, so we can expect plenty of cheeky little nods to its source material.
Rebecca Rittenhouse who starred as Dr Anna in the Hulu reboot of The Mindy Project, will reunite with the star as another one of the show’s character.
Four Weddings and a Funeral will return later this year.
