Game of Thrones season 8 is currently being filmed at the King’s Landing set on the backlot of Titanic Studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and there have been some exciting things happening. The set recently underwent some changes, showing King’s Landing in the aftermath of some pretty heavy fire damage. The damage is quite extensive, and on Wednesday, we received photo confirmation of what caused the fire, via Irish Thrones.

As you can see, the large green set piece is a prop used for Dany’s dragons. In the past, we’ve seen Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) mounted atop a similar prop, which is then turned into Drogon through the magic of CGI.

Today, thanks to Twitter’s own , we have a close-up of the green screen dragon rig.

If you’re wondering whether the prop is larger than the one used for season 7, then you’re not alone. Twitter user grabbed some stills from some Game of Thrones behind the scenes videos for season-to-season comparisons, making sure to pay close attention to the neck:

Here’s Dany riding Drogon for the first time in season 5, episode 9, “The Dance of Dragons.”

Here’s Dany and her favorite child in season 7, episode 6, “Beyond the Wall.”

And here’s the dragon prop for season 8:

It’s impossible to tell from the photo if the prop is larger for season 8, but if we’re strictly going off of the fact that this new season will pick up right where season 7 ended, then there really isn’t time for the dragons to grow. However, that might not stop the production team from making Drogon a little larger and even more menacing for his final season. We’ll find out in 2019 when Game of Thrones season 8 makes its long-awaited debut.
