Radio presenter Greg James gave a contestant on his Yesteryears quiz an inaccurate clue regarding Game of Thrones.

On his Radio 1 breakfast show, Greg spoke with contestant Sam and asked him questions about this day (March 26) last year.

Greg asked him a selection of queries to test Sam’s knowledge, but one question proved a sticking point for Greg too.

He asked Sam: “Which Game of Thrones star announced she was taking a break from acting?”

As Sam sounded rather stumped, Greg gave him an important clue in the hope of helping him.

“She portrays Stansa Stark,” said Greg.

Greg James gave contestant Sam the wrong clue in the quiz

The character name, despite being mispronounced, led to Sam to offer Sophie Turner as his answer.

However, he then got the answer wrong, as it was indeed Sophie’s best friend and Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams.

“Oh no, did I get that wrong?” asked Greg. “Who plays who?”

Pausing the clock, Greg then asked that Maisie played the Mother of Dragons, which is also incorrect as Emilia Clarke portrays Daenerys Targaryen in the hit fantasy series.

Clearly Greg has not been keeping up with the worldwide smash show!

“Doesn’t matter, you got it wrong anyway,” quipped the DJ to Sam.

After the quiz was over, Greg admitted his mistake, prompting Sam to note: “The clue was the wrong clue.”

“It was but you didn’t know it either Sam,” responded Greg,”so don’t try and pull that one on me.”

Certainly a fair point there!
