Who is Gwin Ashford?

Gwin Ashford is a minor character from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1. She is a young noblewoman from House Ashford of Ashford in the Reach, daughter of Lord Ashford. She appears during the Tourney at Ashford Meadow, which is the main setting of season 1. The Ashford tourney was reportedly being held due to the occasion of her naming day (birthday). She appears as one of the young ladies involved in the tournament festivities and the events surrounding the Trial of Seven.

What happened in these deleted scenes?

On the above-mentioned podcast, the actress described in detail the exact scenes she had shot, which were cut from the original series. Revealing about the first one, she said,

“During the knight jousting, I was actually supposed to ride in on a horse with a knight. I am not gonna name the knight but I was gonna ride in with a knight, hop off the horse, turn to the crowd, do a little courtesy, turn around and see my father. My father was a little disappointed, he was like, “what are you doing here?” A little bit of a shame because I did do some horse-riding lessons and stuff for it. But it was fun to shoot.”

The actress admitted taking horse-riding lessons for this deleted part. So it made her sad that the part was not included in the final product.

About the second one, she said,

“Second one is when I say I don’t blame Dunk for ruining my name day, I turn around and walk off, and then I come back, and I say if we were to be wed. I think I had a little crush on him..so I was saying if we were to be wed, come back..you know.”

Here, she is talking about the final scene between her and Dunk from the season finale. When an injured Dunk comes to see Maekar and have a talk with him, Gwin comes running in and reassures Dunk that her birthday getting ruined was not his fault and infact he is the one who has suffered. Dunk says “thank you” in return as Gwim turns and runs away.

This revelation from the actress gave fans more insights into the series. As the season 1 has already ended, this podcast provided fans with some brand new and candid information.
