From Star Wars to Indiana Jones to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Harrison Ford is still going strong at 80 years old.

While promoting the new Yellowstone spinoff1923, veteran actor Harrison Ford briefly discussed his recent commitment to play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Look I’ve done a lot of things, I now want to do some of the things I haven’t done,” he said on the Binge Worthy podcast, with characteristic gruffness.

It was a bit of a shock when news broke that Harrison Ford would be joining the MCU. Ford is more of an old school type of guy not known for his love of all things nerdy, despite playing Han Solo and Indiana Jones for decades. But he’ll be appearing in two upcoming Marvel movies: Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts.

Ford will be replacing actor William Hurt, who played Thunderbolt Ross before passing away at the age of 71 earlier this year. Ross first appeared in the MCU way back in The Incredible Hulk in 2008, where he fought against Bruce Banner. In Marvel comics, Ross eventually becomes an evil version of the Hulk, called Red Hulk.

It will be interesting to see if the 80-year-old Ford will be getting into a motion capture suit to play Red Hulk. When asked, Ford would only make the “zipped lips” motion.

Besides 1923 and his MCU projects, Ford is a busy guy. And he’ll star in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on June 30, 2023.
