A few years back, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) made her debut as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse. Soon after, her best friend and in-show sister Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) landed the role of Wolfsbane in the forthcoming X-Men spinoff The New Mutants. Now, another Game of Thrones star is hopping aboard this train: Harry Lloyd, who played Daenerys Targaryen’s jerk of a brother Viserys back in season 1, will play Professor X in the third and final season of Legion, on FX.
If you’re unfamiliar, Legion is another name for David Haller, a very powerful, mentally unstable mutant. He’s also Professor X’s son. Lloyd is only 35, so he seems a little young to play the father of a character in his ’20s, but maybe he’ll only appear in flashbacks or something. We just hope he gets to wear a bald cap.
Legion Season 3 is set to premiere later this year.
Speaking of Sophie Turner, she’s the new spokesperson for the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon watch. The ad campaign is pretty intense:
She’s an explorer. Are you? Buy a watch.
Meanwhile, Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) is a more traditional ad campaign for Reebok:
She’s human. Are you? Wear Reeboks.
Moving on, Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) has joined Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan in a movie called Gunpowder Milkshake. Deadline reports the movie “is a high-concept action thriller with a rich mythology that revolves around a multi-generational ensemble cast.” Headey and Gillan will play female assassins. Count me in.
Next up, George R.R. Martin uploaded a blast from his past. Here he is with some of the friends, many of whom worked the series of Wild Cards books he edits, back in the day:
As far as I can tell, those shirts all feature characters invented by members of Martin’s old role-playing group. The ’80s were a wild time.
Finally, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) is super-hyped about the new Game of Thrones season 8 photos that dropped on Wednesday:
Our bodies are ready, Gwendoline.
