Social media these days has become a weapon to share your emotions and frustrations on the internet and quickly get attention drawn especially on Twitter. The U.S. President Donald Trump used this online portal to announce reinstating of U.S. sanctions to be removed under the 2015 Nuclear Deal. Without much politicizing this, let’s look at what Mr. Trump tweeted:

Though his intention was to make an announcement he clearly used Game of Thrones as a reference for his message. Fans and opposers alike reacted to his tweet but most interesting reactions came from HBO, and the Stark Sisters – Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark).
Firstly, Maisie Williams who is in a habit of throwing the fans off reacted to Trump’s tweet with her own tweet with a caption ‘Not Today’.

It seems Maisie clearly remembers the lesson of ‘What do we say to death?’ from her dancing master Syrio Forel from her initial moments of training to becoming No One. Up next, Maisie on-screen sister and real-life BFF Sophie Turner too reacted to Trump’s Tweet with her tweet ‘Ew’, which seems like a more direct hitting back.

Initially, not taking much interest into the attention-grabbing tweet, the Home Box Office (HBO) team later issued a statement while replying to the Entertainment Weekly:
“We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes.”
But, later HBO too took it to Twitter and tweeted: ‘How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?’
How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?

It would be really interesting to see if the U.S. President gives any reply to these reactions. What were your thoughts on Trump’s tweet using a Game of Thrones reference? Tell us in the comments.
