HBO continues to release episodes of its behind-the-scenes Game of Thrones series, The Game Revealed. The latest episode, which is available to watch in full on the network’s HBO Now streaming service, deals with “Beyond the Wall,” the sixth episode of season 7. It’s also released a clip on YouTube. Below, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss and director Alan Taylor discuss the episode’s most iconic moment: Viserion rising from the dead as a White Walker thrall.

This is fascinating, particularly the bit about Benioff and Weiss not yet having a script when they described the episode to Taylor. But unfortunately, nothing here explain where the White Walkers got all those chains. Someday…

It’s terrific to see the layers of special effects get added to this sequence, from the motion capture dots on the horses to the giant green blob standing in for Viserion to all the glowing blue eyes affixed to the hundreds of extras in the crowd. Someone stole those; we’re sure of it.

However excited these three guys are to talk about the scene, I think the best part of this clip is the moment when the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) gives a big thumbs-up sign, signaling that he’s ready to shoot. Even here, it seems the Night King calls the shots.

Again, you can watch the full, considerably longer clip on HBO Now.
