For a long time after Game of Thrones ended in 2019, the show’s official Instagram account pretty much went dead. The show was finished, after all, so what more was there to say?
But what is dead can never die, and with HBO gearing up to release its first Game of Thrones prequel series next year, the account has sprung back to life and posted lots of gorgeous stills from across the series together with behind the scenes images. The newest one is this pic of makeup artists applying a wound to Peter Dinklage’s face right before Tyrion Lannister is slashed by Ser Mandon Moore of the Kingsguard on the order of Joffrey Baratheon. Happily, before he can finish the job, Podrick Payne saves Tyrion’s life.
It’s fun to look back at this stuff, and to appreciate just how many pairs of hands it takes to make a show like this happen!
