HBO reveals schedule of airing Game of Thrones season 8 and filming of prequels

Cravings for season 8 of Game of Thrones is eternal and all we can do is bide our time and wait until the first episode of the epic season airs! It’s been more than a year since the last season was released and, since then we’ve been trying to keep you covered with all necessary updates and speculations on the eighth season.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the show had teased it in an interview that the eighth season will be aired around April, which she later denied. But, the recent from HBO about the schedule of the airing of the final season and the filming for the prequel series on the Long Night, has brought her statement into the limelight once again!

According to a report of Entertainment Weekly, HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys revealed that the final season of Game of Thrones will air in the “First half of 2019”.

This update gives us some wishful thinking that the final season is only a few miles ahead of us and we can expect to hear more about the TV series in another six months.

As for the second news about the filming of the prequel series, which was earlier rumoured to start filming in the month of October, Casey denied the entire rumoured update saying, “I don’t know where that report came from, we’re hoping to go into production in early ’19.”

He also went on to explain that the HBO team is still scouting for a director, along with the new cast for the successor shows and they won’t begin the shooting for the new series until early 2019.

With this been said, it’s safe to assume that the eighth season will air somewhat around March or April 2019, the usual peak schedule pattern followed until the sixth season. However, nothing can be certainly said about the spin-off series with the HBO programming president confirming the timetables.
