The man who played Grey Worm in Game of Thrones has explained why his character didn’t kill Jon Snow in the season finale.

To recap: Dany Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) freshly named Master of War was enraged when Jon (Kit Harrington) killed the queen after the burning of King’s Landing – but chose not to exact revenge on him.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other sources at the San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, actor Jacob Anderson explained why he thought Grey Worm chose not to kill Jon, and instead let his fate be decided by the lords and ladies of the Seven Kingdoms.

“I think he thought enough was enough,” he said. “There was a sense he was willing for there to be a trial. He doesn’t want to kill him but he doesn’t want him alive.”

The admission comes after fellow Game of Thrones actors responded to the severe season eight backlash, which included a viral petition to reshoot the entire series.

Varys actor Conleth Hill shared his opinion that the “hate” for season 8 was generally “media-led”, while Jaime Lannister star Nikolaj Coster Waldau ripped into the petition itself.

Ouch.
