  1. I liked the movie. The only complaint I have is that they dumbed down the ending….so they missed the point there. But overall is a really good movie, and in some aspects even better than the original: more show less tell, Motoko is a better character (there, I said it), Takeshi Kitano. Watch Ghost in the Shell 2.0: basically the same CGI-over-classic horror that Lucas did with the original Star Wars series.

  2. A nod to how well the Cyberpunk atmosphere was pulled off would have been nice. Commenting on Ghost in the Shells influence without mentioning Cyberpunk seems a little odd.

  3. Okay. So, the problem with bringing up the Attack on Titan live action is that it is THE LITERAL JAPANESE VERSION OF GHOST IN THE SHELL. They did not use accurate casting at all. If the creator specifically chose for the anime to have all white characters except for a single Japanese character who is the last of her race, then the live action should have the same. I would watch an Attack on Titan live action in German or Polish or whichever language they chose. It would be amazing. I won't even watch the live action because of how shitty and inaccurate the casting is.

  4. As an Asian-American and specifically a Japanese-American, I can comfortably say that I normally don't necessarily have a problem with putting white people in anime roles. For instance if they make a Fullmetal Alchemist movie, I would be pretty weirded out if Edward Elric wasn't played by a blond white guy, if the Ishvalans were white people or light-skinned East Asians, if Winry and Riza were Japanese, etc. (But Mustang and Ling and the other Xing characters need to be East Asian) I also didn't have a problem with Doctor Strange, and I enjoyed that movie. However, in the case of Ghost in the Shell, it was a good opportunity to cast a Japanese-American woman in the role of Motoko Kusanagi, but they didn't, so… :/ that's the only thing about this "whitewashing" business. I love Scarlett Johansson, but this video was sniping at a lot of things that were a little too accurate. Also love the Beat Takeshi joke. He cool.
