Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is one of the highly anticipated shows of 2022, and is currently a prime prospect for HBO’s plans to expand the Martinverse. However, the series is going to face tough competition in 2022, as the year has been marked for the release of several other promising shows, including Amazon’s The Lord of The Rings TV series. However, HBO chief Casey Bloys did not seem to be too concerned about them.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Bloys sat down to discuss the future of HBO projects. Focusing on the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, he revealed, “Production is not wrapped. I was there last week visiting [showrunners] Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik on the set. I’ve seen enough to feel very good and very happy.”

When asked about how he felt about facing tough competition from rival fantasy shows, such as Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, Netflix’s The Witcher, and Amazon’s upcoming Lord of The Rings TV show in 2022, Bloys didn’t seem to be bothered at all. He replied, “I’m not too worried about what anybody else is doing at this point.”

The way that we have approached Game of Thrones is wanting to get it right,” Bloys said. “So we certainly have other things in development and things that we feel good about. But right now, the only thing that is green-lit and coming is House of the Dragon. That’s not to say there will not be other things, but we’re in the process of developing and seeing what feels like the best edition.”
