Are we ready for another coffee cup error (Picture: HBO/Twitter)

House of the Dragon’s Fabien Frankel was determined to bring back the iconic coffee cup during filming following that Game of Thrones season 8 blunder.

The infamous takeaway cup appeared in front of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) on the table at 17.40 minutes (to be exact) into The Starks of Winterfell.

Eagle-eyed fans went into a frenzy sharing the clip online, with #Starbucks trending immediately after.

Fabien, who plays knight Criston Cole, in the critically acclaimed prequel is determined to keep the momentum going even if it meant annoying series producers.

‘I put a bunch of cups all over the set – Starbucks cups,’ he said.

However, when asked whether he managed to sneak into a clear camera shot, he told UNILAD: ‘I tried to. I really, really tried to. On one day, I really was like, “I’ll just leave this here.”‘

After the original error sparked a social media storm in 2019, Fabien insisted that this time show bosses were not ‘messing around’ this time, but reassured fans that he ‘really did try.’

The first episode of House of the Dragon premiered on Sunday and has already broken viewing records, becoming the most watched premiere in HBO history.

The spin-off, which is based on the Fire and Blood novel by George RR Martin, is set 300 years before the events of Game Of Thrones and follows the Targaryen family history, starting right at the formation of Westeros.

Following the release of episode one, titled The Heirs of the Dragon, a ‘horrific’ childbirth scene, a new teaser has been launched offering fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the season in the weeks ahead.

Near the start of the footage, the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) reads a prophecy she was told about by her father, King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), which came from a dream experienced by their ancestor King Aegon I Targaryen and has since been passed down from monarch to heir.

‘From my blood come the prince that was promised and his will be the song of ice and fire,’ she says.

The prophecy saw Aegon predict the events of the original series, when an endless winter from the North would threaten the world of men, and the only way to stop it would be if a Targaryen was sitting on the Iron Throne as the prince that was promised.

House Of The Dragon is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW, with new episodes released at 2am on Mondays.
