Warning: spoilers ahead for House of the Dragon.
Eagle-eyed House of the Dragon fans have spotted an extremely NSFW tapestry in the background of several scenes… and once you see it, it’ll be seared on your brain.
The world of Game of Thrones, in which the prequel series is set, is known for its fair share of raunchy sex scenes, with the new show already showing Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) at a brothel with his lover Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) and surrounded by his Gold Cloaks at a pleasure house.
However, it’s not just the actors who are shown in intimate rendezvous in House of the Dragon, as a tapestry seemingly depicting an orgy can be seen at multiple instances in the drama.
In the latest episode, the pregnant Lady Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey), now the Queen after marrying King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine), is shown speaking to her father Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) in her private quarters, wearing the Targaryen colour of scarlet red.
While the scene itself is of a serious nature, behind Alicent a tapestry showing several individuals writhing around with each other is visible… and it didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.
‘Wtf is that tapestry in the background,’ one person tweeted alongside a screengrab of the tapestry over Alicent’s shoulder.
‘Was it just me, or did anyone else notice the orgy tapestry just chillin in Alicent’s room,’ another confused fan asked.
Someone else pointed the irony of the tapestry juxtaposed with the dramatic scene at hand, writing: ‘Truly love that a very tense scene in #HouseoftheDragon was undercut by the tapestry depicting an o*gy right behind Alicent’s shoulder.’
‘I just did a rewatch of the episode and like… why was FULL BLOWN ORGY tapestry in Alicent Hightower’s room? Asking the real questions here, haha!’ another person questioned.
Alicent’s chamber wasn’t the only room that a saucy tapestry was spotted in, as racy artwork was also seen behind Princess Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) while she’s talking to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock), as well as behind the king during a meal.
It appears that nothing passes by House of the Dragon fans, as some also realised recently that the show suffered an unfortunate blunder when it came to its visual effects.
In the series, Viserys is shown suffering multiple cuts on his body that fail to heal properly as a result of sitting on the sharp Iron Throne.
While he loses a couple of fingers as his injuries escalate, at one point, Paddy was seen with two of his fingers covered in green sleeves, which should have been removed in the final cut using greenscreen technology.
House of the Dragon returns on Monday at 2am on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
