Warning: spoilers ahead for House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock has opened up about the intimate scene she shared with Matt Smith in the latest episode, describing the scene in the brothel as ‘pretty gnarly’.
In episode 4 of the Game of Thrones prequel, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly) is smuggled out of her room in the Red Keep into the streets of King’s Landing by her rule-breaking uncle, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt).
At the end of their excursion, Daemon takes her into a brothel, where they see plenty of naked individuals writhing around with each other, before they also start kissing and fooling around with each other.
Speaking about the moment in question, Milly, 22, revealed that their director, Clare Kilner, ‘made sure that we hadn’t seen any of the brothel stuff until we were shooting’.
‘So, that was our first time walking through the brothel, and he’s guiding her through the room with all of these other bodies. So, that was quite shocking. You’re like, “This is kind of weird and silly,”’ she told The New York Post.
Recollecting the many extras that surrounded them that day, Milly revealed that she and Matt, 39, ‘felt pretty overdressed’ at the time.
‘There were extras who we had just met who were like, 69-ing for 12 hours,’ she said.
‘It’s pretty gnarly. We felt pretty overdressed, because everyone else was nude.’
After Rhaenyra and Daemon’s tryst in the pleasure house, he swiftly leaves her on her own, resulting in her having to make her own way back to the Keep.
She then ends up having sex with Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), who was standing guard at her bedroom door.
In the same episode, Lady Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) is shown reluctantly having sex with her husband, King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine).
Emily recently admitted she felt ‘concerned’ about filming the sex scene due to her 30-year age gap with her co-star, but she felt comforted by the presence of intimacy coordinator Miriam Lucia and the fact that Paddy was a ‘joy’ to work with.
While Rhaenyra’s passionate rendezvous with Criston is currently under wraps after the events of episode four, King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) does find out about what happened between her and Daemon, after being informed by the Hand of the King, Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans).
He promptly banishes Daemon from King’s Landing – again – while also demoting Ser Otto as his most trusted advisor, after Rhaenyra pointed out how scheming he really is.
House of the Dragon next airs on Monday at 2am on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
