A star who appears in one of the biggest TV shows on the planet has fired back after a troll sent them a disgusting racist message on social media.
In June this year, season 2 of House of the Dragon – the acclaimed spin-off series of Game of Thrones – is set to premiere.
The prequel will continue to follow the battle between warring factions of the Targaryen family as former childhood best friends Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) go up against each other with fire-breathing dragons to try and secure the Iron Throne.
One of the actresses in the cast is Bethany Antonia, who plays Baela Targaryen, the daughter of Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell).
Last month, the trailer for the second season of House of the Dragon was released, and has already stacked up millions of views on YouTube.
In a post shared on her Instagram Story, Bethany revealed that after the trailer was unveiled, she received a horrific message in her DMs from a racist troll.
In the message, which she screenshotted, the person called her the N-word, before saying that the 26-year-old looked ‘like a piece of s**t’.
The repulsive message continued: ‘It’s a miracle they even included you in the trailer. But we don’t care. I hope you accidentally die on set.’
In response to the show of racism, Bethany wrote on top of the screenshot: ‘Wait till they find out I’m gay too…’
On her Instagram, numerous fans have been sending her messages of support in the comment section underneath her most recent post.
‘Hi coming on here to counteract the hate you’re getting in your dms!! hope you’re well + you’re the prettiest <3,’ wrote one fan called Polly.
‘We love you Bethany! I’m sorry for the DMs you’ve gotten but you are so beautiful and talented and that person is just pathetic,’ added Sophia.
Jamila commented: ‘OUR FIERCE, INCREDIBLE, BRAVE, BEAUTIFUL BAELA TARGARYENNNN ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥.’
‘You are so naturally pretty!!! I’m sorry humans can be so vile ❤️,’ Amy also said.
Prior to House of the Dragon, Bethany had roles in Doctors and Stath Lets Flats, before being cast as lead Margot in the BBC teen series Get Even.
She appeared in the Netflix thriller Get Close, and last year starred opposite Helena Bonham Carter in the ITV biographical mini-series Nolly.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to premiere on June 16 2024.
