Kit Harington has admitted he’s going to struggle to watch Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, three years after leaving his hero Jon Snow behind.
Game of Thrones ended in 2019, with its damp conclusion still a sore point for fans.
Next year the franchise will be revived on screen in the blockbuster series set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones in the HBO show following the origins of the Targaryan family, starring Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy and Paddy Considine.
After the trailer dropped last month and with filming still underway, Kit said he’s already expecting to experience ‘a lot of emotions’ when it’s finally released.
‘I’m looking forward to it,’ he told Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston during their Heart FM breakfast show on Thursday.
‘It’s my good friend Miguel [Sapochnik] who’s show-running it, I’ve got a friend Matt in it, so I’m looking forward to it but it’s gonna be hard.’
He added: ‘I’ve got a huge emotional connection to that piece, to that story, to that world.’
At least, for now, Kit has been throwing it back to his Game of Thrones days, reuniting with fellow Stark brother member Richard Madden in the new Marvel epic, The Eternals.
Last night, the film had its London premiere, attended by stars Angelina Jolie, Kit, Richard and Gemma Chan.
‘Yeah he can’t get rid of me,’ Kit joked.
‘He couldn’t believe it when I turned up on set. He was like “what the hell are you doing here?”’
The Eternals is in cinemas nationwide from November 5. House of the Dragon will air on HBO Max and Sky Atlantic in 2022.
