House of the Dragon has become one of the most talked about TV shows in recent months. Fans on Facebook, Twitter and TikTok have not been able to stop discussing and dissecting the show and incredible performances given by its actors – and topping their list is Daemon Targaryen actor, Matt Smith.

A recent analysis of social media site Twitter has revealed the ex-Doctor Who actor has become the most talked-about man on the show, moving audiences to tears with his portrayal of the white-haired prince. The Game of Thrones spin-off, which was filmed in Cornwall, follows the story of the Targaryen family 200 years before Ned Stark got his head chopped off in King’s Landing.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the final episode of this first series which is due to air on October 23. In total, 375,000 tweets about both House of the Dragon and the recently concluded Rings of Power series were analysed by WettFreunde revealed that the 39-year-old was the most talked about actor in the Game of Thrones prequel series.

Out of the tweets analysed, Smith, who rose to fame after starring as the 11th Doctor, was mentioned in over 40 per cent of posts discussing the show, with some fans reportedly “moved to tears” by a recent improvised moment. Over 42 per cent of House of the Dragon related tweets mentioned Smith.

The next most talked about actors were Milly Alcock, who played a young Rhaenyra Targaryen, in 19 per cent of tweets, and Emily Carey (Alicent Hightower) who featured in 9.8 per cent of tweets.

Though Smith has been the most talked about actor, his character, the vicious Daemon Targaryen, has fallen short of claiming yet another crown. Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Emma D’Arcy has been the most discussed character with around 23 per cent of tweets, while Daemon claims the number two spot with 21 per cent of tweets.

The ‘Rogue Prince’ has proven to be a popular character for the actor, who also starred as Prince Phillip in The Crown. Smith was notably missing from the most recent episode of the show, with one twitter user saying they would rate the episode a seven because “Matt Smith is the best and he was missing”, adding that he brought “something exciting to the show”.

A recently revealed still puts the actor back into the action at King’s Landing. The episode is titled ‘The Black Queen’, and is set to air on Sunday (October 23) in, what is sure to be, an exciting series one finale.
