Arya Stark had one of the most amazing story arcs on Game of Thrones. Maisie Williams went to great lengths to portray her character truthfully to the source material. Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon will also portray a women-centric story, and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen at the center of it all. The show’s star Milly Alcock, who will play the younger version of Rhaenyra, thinks that the two characters share more than a few similarities at their core.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly during a recent photoshoot, Alcock noted, “She [Rhaenyra] has an understanding of history and famous dragonriders, especially female dragonriders.”
She goes on to compare Rhaenyra to Arya Stark, “They’re both women who don’t behave the way that they’re expected to. There is that rebellious and cheeky spirit that they both possess, which I think is why people are going to adore her.”
Milly Alcock had actually auditioned for the role with an Arya Stark dialogue from Game of Thrones. Perhaps the showrunner had that in mind when they were looking for someone to play the role? Maybe young Rhaenyra has a bit of Arya Stark in her, but that fades away as she grows up and learns to adapt to a world dominated by men?
