You know nothing, Olivia Cooke (Picture: HBO/REX)

House Of The Dragon star Olivia Cooke may have committed the ultimate crime against the Targaryen family by admitting she hadn’t actually watched Game Of Thrones

The actress, who previously starred in Vanity Fair and Ready Player One, has joined the cast of the spin-off series, based centuries before the Westeros fantasy show took place.

But while info for the new series is being strictly held under lock and key, Olivia has now opened up about its source material.

Turns out she had no idea what she was signing herself up for when she auditioned.

Speaking to Variety, Olivia admitted: ‘When I read the script, I hadn’t seen any Game of Thrones.

‘But then I binged it and now I’m obsessed.’

Good save there, Olivia! But best not to let Daenerys Targaryen hear you say that… just in case.

House Of The Dragon is currently scheduled to start filming in London, and will tell the story of the early years of the Targaryen dynasty.

Olivia will play Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand Of The King with close ties and influence within the Targaryen family.

She is joined by Paddy Considine, who will play King Viserys Targaryen; Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen; and Emma D’Arcy, who will star as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

The Targaryens are one of the former Royal houses who ruled an empire, and united the Seven Kingdoms.

Often followed by three dragons, their family declaration is ‘fire and blood’ – but their thirst for power often saw members of the clan descend into madness as their behaviour became more erratic and violent – and at most posts would end in their death.

House of the Dragon will be adapted from the events in author George RR Martin’s  book Fire and Blood, which ends with a massive battle nicknamed The Dance of the Dragons – caused by an inter-family civil war.

Other cast members are yet to be announced.

House Of The Dragon is scheduled for release in 2022.
