Tony Khan is quite a powerful person across several industries and used it to great effect recently. Khan liked the ‘Winter is Coming’ theme for Dynamite special, but it is a Game of Thrones trademark.
WarnerMedia, TNT’s parent company, owns the trademarks to hit the show, and Khan was able to secure the rights to use it for Dynamite. Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Khan isn’t a big fan of GoT but his mother likes it very much.
It was also noted that AEW is trying to create as many specials as possible. Their Thanksgiving special, which took place in Chicago last year, couldn’t be presented this year due to COVID-19, which made them look for a new theme.
The show received tremendous response with a massive lead over NXT in the weekly ratings, which could see it becoming a yearly tradition going forward.
