Peter Claffey, the actor who plays Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes story that has fans cracking up. In a new clip from the series’ lead duo’s appearance at the Dublin Comic Con, he admitted that one particular scene was almost impossible to film. This was not because of action, emotion, or stunts, but because he simply could not stop laughing.

Quick read:

• Peter Claffey revealed that being called a “giant c*nt” was the hardest scene to film

Hard to pick one

Peter was posed with the question of which scene was the most difficult to shoot by the event’s host. He started answering the question by mentioning multiple co-stars’ names but could not put his finger on a particular scene.

“There’s a lots of scenes that were difficult for me, like the dancing scene. We had a lot of fun as well and then the cast also got really really close. And then it got to a point where you do things with Daniel Ings or Sean Thomas, or Henry, especially Edward, who plays Steffan Fossoway. I find it incredibly hard a lot of times because you find them out to be such funny, funny people.”

Dunk couldn’t control himself being called a “giant c*nt”

It wasn’t until Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg) weighed in and reminded him of a scene:

“So the Targaryens are coming through, Dunk doesn’t know what the Targaryens are and what these flags are. And then there was that guy who said very naughty words. And it made Peter laugh. It was only one single shot, but it took hours to shoot. It’s hilarious.”

The scene in question is when Dunk sees the Targaryens riding in for the first time. Since they were the ruling family of Westeros, lots of people had gathered to see them. One among the crowd is Dunk, who isn’t aware of the Targaryen sigil and hence does not recognize them. Due to this, he turns to a short man standing near him to ask who they were, who in turn answers with,

“Can’t you see the banners, you giant c*nt.”

It was revealed that this particular dialogue kept cracking Peter up and hence, shooting this single scene itself took very long.

Peter added,

“It was just the way he said it. He was so brilliant, but it got to a point where he thought he was doing something wrong. And I kept apologizing because there were about 800 extras that had to be resent every time. Oh my god this is terrifying.”

This scene has also been mentioned in the show’s official blooper reel teaser, which was released on YouTube on March 1. In the video, fans can clearly see Peter Claffey breaking his character to laugh out loudly during this particular scene.

Since A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a light-hearted and intimate show at its core, many moments and scenes like these exist, making it an interesting watch.
