I actively avoided IT trailers, and I'm glad I did because after seeing the movie, I watched the trailers and realized the movie would've been ruined for me if I saw those trailers before seeing the movie. There were parts I wasn't expecting that got me good, but my friend was like, "but this was in the trailer – I already knew this was gonna happen. Lame." Basically, if I wanna see a movie, I avoid watching the movie trailers. The only trailers I watch are the ones in the movie theater because I kinda have no choice in the matter.

I watched Soylent Green on a DVD from Blockbuster and it revealed the whole central plot twist (you all know what it is). Weird for a '70's trailer.
Something that I'd really like to see done again is a trailer similar to the advertisement for Psycho. You can look it up, but it's pretty much just Alfred Hitchcock telling people why they should see the movie. I get why "trailers" have evolved beyond that point, but I'd still like to see it done again.
I couldn't agree with you more. When I watched the Assassin's Creed III trailer I was expecting an action pack game where you could shape-shift and all that stuff… Now I've given up because the beginning is way too hard.
