With ‘Ice and Fire Con’ coming back in person this year after the pandemic, a major highlight during the event was the Game of Thrones parody titled Queens: The Musical.
Queens: The Musical was originally planned to premiere back in 2020. However, the debut was delayed due to the global pandemic. Fortunately, with ‘Ice and Fire Con’ coming back this year in April, the talented cast and crew were finally able to share their impressive creativity and hard work with everyone.
Set to the music of the Broadway smash Six: The Musical (by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss), Queens: The Musical features six queens from George R. R. Martin’s expansive fictional world of A Song of Ice and Fire vying to become the favorite in an all-girl pop group. The parody includes the cast hilariously summarizing the events of the books and the popular HBO show. Of course, the parody has moments that drag certain story elements in the book series and the live-action adaptation.
Here’s the entire musical for you to enjoy!
I haven’t read the ASOIAF books, but I did watch the TV series. And while I wasn’t able to catch the meaning and reasoning behind every single lyric, I was still able to enjoy it quite a lot. Giving the ASOIAF characters a modern take, which includes social media, made for a lot of hilarious moments.
The entire thing has been recieved well by the ASOIAF fandom. So, that’s good.
From WesterosMusicals, Queens: The Musical stars Tara Lynne as Cersei Lannister, Britt B as Margaery Tyrell, Lydia B as Asha Greyjoy, Elle V as Arianne Martell, Kat V as Daenerys Targaryen, and Anna W as Sansa Stark. It also features Daisy A., Matt F., Joi L, Moe S, and Dom T. Book and lyrics by Chloé D., Dom T, and
Anna W., with Brian E.
You can keep up with ‘Ice and Fire Con’ by following them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also visit the official website here.
With the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon scheduled to debut on August 21, 2022, I’m looking forward to seeing what ‘Ice and Fire Con’ have planned for 2023.
