Ambition runs deep in Targaryen’s blood. However, in some, lust runs deeper. This can be the only possible reason behind so many bastards of noblemen walking the streets of Westeros. Like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon also features bastard kids of some prominent members of the nobility. We saw Rhaenys meet the bastard son of Corlys in one of the recent House of the Dragon season 2 episodes.

The bastard sons of Corlys Velaryon, Addam and Alyn of Hull, are seen in the latest season. Their entry into the narrative is not for nothing since they will go on to play a crucial role for the Blacks in the Dance of the Dragons. The actors who play the roles are Abubakar Salim and Clinton Liberty. In a recent interview with The Guardian, they opened up about their experience working on such a global show and its impact on their lives.

Clinton Liberty plays Addam of Hull in House of the Dragon season 2. Talking about being a part of the show and his experience, he claimed, “It was a journey we started together. And we bonded over how crazy it all was. Every day we’d think we were getting used to it, then it was just like … what is going on? Is this real? Are you sure?”

Although this is not Liberty’s first time on a famous show since he has been a part of Normal People and Holding, this is certainly his first experience in going global, thanks to HBO’s reach.

Salim, on the other hand, is an experienced actor having worked with Ridley Scott among others. He was infected by Liberty’s excitement for the roles as he revealed, “I may not have seen it all but I’ve seen enough to be like: ‘OK, here’s another cool set.’ I wasn’t necessarily jaded, but it’s like you’re eating chocolate for the 100th time. You know you’re going to enjoy it. With Clinton, it was like this was the first time he’d ever had chocolate. He was in absolute awe. That excitement was really infectious.”

Clinton Liberty worked with Conleth Hill in Holding

Conleth Hill played Lord Varys in Game of Thrones for all eight seasons. His expertise in whispers and gaining gossip was beyond anyone’s comprehension. So, naturally, when Liberty got a chance to be in Holding with him, he asked all possible questions to get an insight into the world conjured by George R.R. Martin.

“I’d have been happy to play a tree on House of the Dragon. I worked with Conleth Hill [who played Lord Varys in Game of Thrones] on Holding, and the whole time we were filming I was asking him about it. What’s Kit Harington like? What’s the world like? I was such a fan. And I’d do these affirmations. I used to wake up every morning and say: ‘One day I’m going to play a lead character in an HBO show. I’m going to be a character like Jon Snow.’ I said it every day for two years. I was just talking to the wind, really. Then lo and behold … ”

Seems like Liberty truly manifested his dream of being a part of Hosue of the Dragon. We can’t wait to see how the upcoming episodes unravel their contribution to the war. Moreover, their relationship with Corlys might also develop in the meantime since the Sea Snake has lost everyone else in his life.
