Before we get into the trailers, though, we have a new film featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin (11-year old Tom Riddle). He’s been cast in The Woman King, a film based on true events that occurred in the Kingdom of Dahomey, which was one of the most powerful kingdoms in Africa in the 18th century. The film centers on a general of an all-female military unit and an ambitious recruit who team up to fight those who violate their personal honor. Nick Moran (Scabior) also has a new project coming up. He’s set to star in Hounded, a thriller about the robbery of a stately home that goes wrong and results in the thieves being hunted across the property for entertainment. UK distribution company Signature Entertainment recently purchased the film and has confirmed that it will be released in the UK and Ireland. We’re not sure when this will be, but we’ll let you know when we do.
Isabella Laughland has joined Alfred Enoch (Leanne and Dean Thomas, respectively) in the cast of Foundation. The Apple TV+ show follows a group of scientists that have to confront the Galactic Empire after those in power don’t take them seriously. We have no official release date for the show’s second season yet, but we do have a first-look photo to show you! Take a look below and let us know what you think.
We’re moving from sci-fi to mythical fantasy next, with Ralph Ineson‘s (Amycus Carrow) dive into the world of role-playing games. He’s lent his voice to a character in The Waylanders, a Celtic-inspired game that was released on PC earlier this week. Fernando Prieto, a cofounder of the game’s studio, described it as “a story born of our Galician roots, and many of the tales of our heritage have inspired elements throughout.” The company also released a trailer alongside the game itself that you can check out below!
Next up, we’re going on a trip to Westeros. The Game of Thrones Studio Tour opened yesterday (February 4) in Bambridge, Northern Ireland! Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) was at the grand opening and said that she “felt really nostalgic landing into Belfast, coming out of the airport” because “it was just such a big part of my life coming here and working on the show.” Here’s a picture of her and a few of her costars – Ian Beattie, Daniel Portman, and Ian McElhinney – at the tour.
Our next story is about a new film starring Fiona Shaw (Petunia Dursley). She’s signed on to take a leading role in Hot Milk, a screen adaptation of Deborah Levy’s bestselling novel. The plot follows Shaw’s character, Rose, as she and her daughter Sofia (played by Jessie Buckley) travel to a Spanish clinic in an attempt to cure Sofia’s paralysis. We don’t know much more information about the movie, but we’ll keep you updated as more details are released.
Speaking of Shaw, she’s featured in the final trailer for Season 4 of Killing Eve. The show’s final season is set to air at the end of this month, and after three previous seasons of Villanelle and Eve’s (Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, respectively) ongoing duels, we’re all on the edge of our seats for the finale. Awards season is truly upon us now, with Sir Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart) winning a Golden Globe Award at the end of January and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses recently receiving a Producers Guild Award nomination. Earlier this week, the nominations for the BAFTA Film Awards were announced! Branagh is in the running for more awards for his film Belfast, as it received nominations in the Best Film, Original Screenplay, Editing, and Outstanding British Film categories. Ciarán Hinds (Aberforth Dumbledore) and Caitriona Balfe also received nominations for Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, respectively, for their performances in the film.
There is strong competition for the Outstanding British Film award, however, as Belfast will compete against James and Oliver Phelps‘s (Fred and George Weasley) Last Night in Soho, which also received a nomination in the Sound category. The Tragedy of Macbeth, featuring Harry Melling, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Ineson, and Kathryn Hunter (Dudley Dursley, Mad-Eye Moody, Amycus Carrow, and Mrs. Figg, respectively), received a nomination in the Cinematography category. And finally, Dame Emma Thompson‘s (Professor Trelawney) film Cruella received nominations for the Costume Design and Make Up & Hair awards.
