The HBO adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game The Last of Us successfully completed its first season, and it was a roaring success. It broke a number of records when the season finale aired, and has inspired similar franchises to revive their old projects. Actor and musician Jack Black, who recently played Bowser in The Super Mario Bros movie, thinks there’s another game that deserves a shot to be on the silver screen.

Jack Black says Red Dead Redemption has a better story than The Last of Us

Black is a massive video game nerd and has his own YouTube channel where he streams games. In his recent interview with BBC, he said, “I’m a fan of adaptations, when done right. The Last of Us was fantastic. And what’s crazy is how loyal it is to the original source material. It’s basically all from the game with just a couple of tweaks. It’s going to win all the awards. They used the video game almost like a storyboard and I was like, “Whoa, this looks just the same.”

“And there are some great games that have yet to be explored in television or film. Maybe there’s going to be a Red Dead Redemption movie? There should be, because I think that [has] just as good or [an] even better story than The Last of Us.”

Jack Black wants Pedro Pascal to join the Mario series

In a recent interview with Gamespot, Black talked about the return of Bowser in future Mario movies. He said, “You know, I did a few Kung Fu Panda movies, and it was a different villain every movie. They may do the same thing.”

“You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”
