James Corden’s parents stole the show from their son quite literally with their amazing commentary on the new season of Game Of Thrones.
Being filmed throughout their entire experience, James’s mum and dad Margaret and Malcom whacked the kettle on in their High Wycombe home and recorded their reactions to everything that happens in the first episode.
Having never seen the show before, they didn’t take long to pick up on a few things – mainly that it was snowing, and that Jon Snow was warning a young girl (that would be Arya) about needing her help with Santa.
‘With who? Santa?!’ Margaret quizzed.
‘Well it’s Christmastime,’ added Malcolm…which we can’t fault his logic on. Though Sansa might not be so happy about it.
Then they were thrown into to a racy sex scene involving Bronn and three sex workers, causing Margaret to cover her eyes and cower into her husband.
But they might have missed the mark on Euron and Cersei’s moment – with Malcolm missing that they’d already slept together and instead thought he was making a move.
‘Oh, here he goes, making his move! She’s been on the wine…candlelit dinner,’ he said.
But they seemed to be a bit smitten with Daenerys and Jon, with Malcolm joking it reminded of their younger days where they would be romantic by snoy waterfalls of Bedforshire.
‘I didn’t have a dragon to lure you away with did I? I just had a Vauxhall Viva!,’ the cheeky dad added.
They later recommended he go for work as Samwell Tarly as it looked like him, instead of ‘poncing about in Los Angeles.’ (aka hosting a massive late night talk show that’s become a huge global success…but you can always account on a parent to keep you grounded).
Basically, they have perfectly captured any parent watching the show for the first time – and we can see where Corden gets his funny streak from!
Game Of Thrones continues Sundays on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
