Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is out there promoting his starring role in Aquaman, which hits U.S. theaters on December 21. But to a certain set, he’ll always be Khal Drogo, the savage leader of the Dothraki and Daenerys Targaryen’s sun and stars. Momoa hosted Saturday Night Live last night, and it looks like the writers may be among that set, since they wrote a sketch where Momoa got to reprise his iconic Game of Thrones role (and didn’t write anything where he played Aquaman, I couldn’t help but notice). Watch it below:
It’s not the funniest thing that ever was or ever will be, but you’ve gotta love Joffrey Baratheon and Olenna Tyrell having a slap fight in the afterlife. I also liked Pete Davidson as the High Sparrow, complete with molton gold. And Melissa Villaseñor (at least it think it was her) nailed a bunch of Gwendoline Christie’s ticks and habits as Brienne of Tarth.
What did you guys think? How well did Momoa slip back into his old role? And if you want more Game of Thrones on SNL, I direct you to this parody of Jon Snow’s resurrection scene:
Let’s hope season 8 gives SNL some new material.
