The tale of Game of Thrones season 8 controversy still lives in the minds of the die-hard fans. It has been two years since HBO’s money-making mint wrapped up filming, but people can’t stop talking about it. After all, the highly popular and record-breaking show divided its fandom with a controversial and a rather rushed-up final season. Not just the fans, but the cast of the series is split up upon the same issue. Some like Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, defend it quite furiously. While others, like Charles Dance, were ready to sign the petition to change the final season. Quite unsurprisingly, John Bradley belongs to the former category.
Bradley, who played Jon Snow’s best buddy Samwell Tarly on the show, defended the final season in the “Just for Variety” podcast, “It is highly unlikely that we were ever going to please everybody. Chances are we were going to please a fraction of people… We almost couldn’t win. It almost meant too much to people for them to really ever be satisfied. And who knows, when the wounds have healed a little bit in a few years’ time, maybe people will reevaluate it and be able to see it as a complete thing.”
He went on to praise the Game of Thrones showrunners, “If they didn’t care, they wouldn’t choose to be standing in a field in Belfast at 3 o’clock in the morning for months on end. They wanted to make it as good as possible, and it’s a shame if people didn’t like it because we did try our best to make something very special.”
